Is Chiropractic Safe?

Woman holding heartChiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession, meaning that only professionals with a specified level of training and knowledge may call themselves a Chiropractor. In the UK all practicing Chiropractors must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). As Jersey fall outside of the GCC’s jurisdiction, Chiropractors practicing on Jersey are regulated by the Jersey Public Health Department.

All UK chiropractors must undergo at least four years training (covering topics such as anatomy, neurology, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, radiography and orthopaedics, alongside diagnosis and manipulative skills) at an institution accredited by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC).

Chiropractors are trained in medical diagnosis to be able to rule out underlying medical conditions that are not suitable for Chiropractic care. Should such a condition be detected, you will be referred to an alternative practitioner and/or your GP for other treatment and/or investigation if needed.
